INTRODUCTION

In today's dynamic energy landscape, the effective management of oil movement and storage is not just an operational necessity but a strategic imperative. This training program is carefully crafted to equip professionals in the industry with the knowledge and skills required to excel in this critical domain.

Why is this Training Important?

The energy sector is at the heart of global economic and environmental challenges. Proper management of oil movement and storage is crucial for operational efficiency, environmental responsibility, and the safety of personnel. Inefficient practices can lead to costly errors, environmental harm, and a loss of reputation.

This training program addresses the pressing need for individuals and organizations to excel in oil movement, storage, and troubleshooting. By enrolling in this course, participants will gain the ability to:

  1. Master the intricacies of oil production, recovery, and storage.

  2. Understand the critical role of tank farms and terminals in the energy sector.

  3. Implement best practices for tank operation and maintenance.

  4. Navigate the complexities of blending and loading operations.

  5. Develop robust strategies for spill management and mitigation.

  6. Enhance knowledge in corrosion prevention and quality control.

  7. Acquire hands-on experience in pigging operations and ship loading.

Learning Objectives

By the end of Day 1, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of:

  1. Oil production and recovery processes.

  2. The role and installation of tank farms in the industry.

  3. Types of tanks and how to enhance tank farm and oil terminal operations.

  4. Procedures for gas freeing of tanks and vessels, including confined entry for inspection, maintenance, and repair.

  5. Various tank gauging methods and their limitations.

  6. Marine terminal and Single Point Mooring (SPM) operations, along with product specifications.

TRAINING OUTLINE

Module 1: Introduction to Effective Oil Terminal Management (Day 1)

Overview

Efficient operation and management of oil and gas terminals are indispensable for business success. Tank farms involved in processing, transporting, and storing crude oil and refined petroleum products face challenges related to custody transfers, data management, and blending complexities.

Additionally, the high-value transfer of bulk liquids during loading and offloading necessitates optimized inventory management for maximum return on investment.

Module 2: Blending, Maintenance, and Safety (Day 2 & 3)

Learning Objectives

Days 2 and 3 will empower participants to:

  1. Master the art of blending and tank mixing.

  2. Understand meters and meter proving.

  3. Grasp the nuances of cleaning crude oil and product tanks.

  4. Explore emergency protocols for oil spills.

  5. Examine the causes of corrosion and cathodic protection methods for gas transmission lines.

  6. Enhance knowledge of pigging operations in crude and gas pipelines.

  7. Gain insights into ship loading procedures and custody transfer.

  8. Recognize the significance of quality assurance and control.

  9. Familiarize themselves with the work permit system.

Module 3: Operational Excellence and Hands-On Learning (Day 4 & 5)

Learning Objectives

Days 4 and 5 will emphasize:

  1. In-depth discussions on above-ground storage tanks.

  2. Practical aspects of oil spill management and mitigation.

  3. Gauging techniques for marine cold product tanks.

  4. Operation and cathodic protection of gas transmission lines.

  5. Hands-on experience in pigging crude and gas pipelines.

  6. Ship loading best practices and checklist.
